        Our History

        In a Vancouver coffee shop in 2011, the spark of an idea grew from one simple question: why was it so hard to research and compare Canadian online brokerages? That idea ignited what has now become a leading online publication for Canadian DIY investors,, and set into motion a bold adventure into the world of content marketing.

        The early work of attracted the attention of DIY investors and in turn, major Canadian financial brands (including several of the big five banks in Canada), the latter of which have chosen to work with us on digital content marketing campaigns that focus on the online investing space.

        As more financial services brands began to take notice of our data-driven strengths, our small-but-mighty team began to get more requests to tackle increasingly complex digital marketing challenges, and as a result, Sparx Publishing Group began to grow to meet those needs.

        Not one to shy away from a challenge, when industries outside of finance started to see the work we’ve been doing and asked for our help, we jumped at the chance to do so.

        Fast forward to 2020 and we are still proudly servicing clients in financial services, as well as in biotech and human resources. We build and manage complex content ecosystems for clients and their stakeholders across Canada and the US. However, we are most proud of the fact that our clients share a common thread of wanting to make an outsized impact on the world.

        We have come a long way since that fateful latte-inspired lightning bolt. Our journey serves as a constant reminder that every great story begins with the courage to embrace the awesome potential of a spark.
